On 26 April, World Intellectual Property Day will be celebrated globally for the 19th time already, its message this year being Reach for Gold: Intellectual Property and Sports.
The Patent Office is joining the celebration by organizing an international seminar on Intellectual Property and Sports.
Among the speakers will be experts from the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and internationally renowned law firms, representatives from the Ministry of Justice, the Latvian Association of Patent Attorneys, the Latvian Olympic Committee, and the Patent Office.
The seminar will highlight such topics as IP in sports from the WIPO perspective, the protection of the Olympic properties, non-traditional brands in sports, EU Trademarks Directive.
In the frames of the celebration, a number of award ceremonies will take place: the award of the WIPO Medal for Inventors, the WIPO Trophy for Schoolchildren - the winners of the pupils' video competition “The Journey into the World of Industrial Property”, and perpetual trophies for the winners of “The Trademark 2018” competition.
